Player Bio

Sunshine Coast product Tate McDermott has shown enormous potential in both the 15s and the shortened Sevens format of the game.

McDermott has already represented Australia in Sevens, while also helping University of Queensland to title in both Colts and Premier Grade.

He also showed glimpses of his promise for Bond University Queensland Country in their title-winning NRC campaign, making his debut at Noosa Dolphins Rugby Club as they claimed the Andy Purcell Cup from McInnes Wilson Lawyers Brisbane City for the first time.



2018
Made his Super Rugby debut for the Reds against the Rebels off the bench in Round 2 of the season in Melbourne. Represented the Australian U20s at the Oceania and World Rugby U20s Championships, captaining the Junior Wallabies against New Zealand and Japan, scoring a try in the latter.
2017
Helped University of Queensland win titles in both Colts and Premier Grade. Featured for Bond University Queensland Country in his debut season of the National Rugby Championship, with the side claiming its first-ever title in the competition.
