Player Bio

Leroy Houston returns to the St.George Queensland Reds after five years playing abroad, most recently for English Premiership club Bath.

The burly back rower had a whirlwind 2016, leaving Bath midway through the season to return to Australia for the Reds, while also training with the Wallabies ahead of the June Test window. He then returned to Bath on a short-term contract in October and was again called into the Wallabies squad as they prepared to take on Argentina at Twickenham Stadium as part of The Rugby Championship.

Houston’s career-long goal of representing Australia finally came to fruition on October 8 2016 against the Pumas – a feat made all the more remarkable by the fact it was 11 years after he first toured the UK with the Wallabies under coach Eddie Jones in 2005.

Originally from New Zealand, Houston moved to Australia as a teenager. He made his Super Rugby debut for the Reds in 2008. for He was part of the Super Rugby title-winning squad in his final year with Queensland in 2011.

Earned his 50th cap for Queensland against the Chiefs in New Plymouth.
Returned to the Reds after five years playing abroad. Featured at the back end of the Super Rugby season and for Brisbane City at the start of the National Rugby Championship. Released back to Bath on a short-term contract as injury cover, allowing him to also make his long-awaited Wallabies debut against Argentina at Twickenham Stadium.
