A hard grafting, mobile prop, Hoopert has spent time working closely with Reds coach Brad Thorn as part of the Queensland U20s program.

The 19-year-old grew up on a wheat farm outside of Dalby and still returns home to help with the annual harvest.

Fittingly, his first taste of the sport was for local club Dalby Wheatmen, before honing his skills at Darling Downs Rugby nursery Toowoomba Grammar School, alongside Reds teammate Hamish Stewart.

2018
Made his Super Rugby debut in an upset win over 2016-2017 Super Rugby finalists the Lions at Suncorp Stadium – the match celebrated Rugby Family Round, with Hoopert wearing the socks of the Dalby Wheatman to recognise his pathway. Represented the Australian U20s for the first time at the Oceania and World Rugby Championships. Also made NRC debut for Queensland Country in Round 1 and went on to play in every match, including the 2018 Grand Final against the Fijian Drua.
2017
Claimed back-to-back titles with Queensland U20s in an undefeated campaign. Post-season shoulder surgery ruled him out for the rest of the year.
