Player Bio

Ben Lucas rejoins the St.George Queensland Reds in 2018 after a three-year absence spent playing overseas for French club Montpelier and Japanese club Toyota Verblitz.

Lucas, 30, is an experienced and versatile player, having previously represented Queensland in 73 Super Rugby matches and once against the British and Irish Lions. He covered a range of positions in his first stint at the Reds, including scrumhalf, flyhalf, wing and fullback – while also being a sound goal kicker.

Lucas isn’t the only talented footballer in his family, with three younger brothers all involved in the sport at various levels - Matt currently plays for the Brumbies, Tom is an Australian Sevens representative and Isaac currently in the Reds academy.

2008 - 2014
Made his Super Rugby debut off the bench against the Brumbies in 2008, starting his career as a scrumhalf. Featured heavily for the Reds during their 2011 championship-winning run as the side’s starting fullback for much of the season, before a knee injury forced a premature end to his year. Reached the milestone of 50 caps for Queensland during the 2012 season.
