Queensland Rugby’s partners band together to assist Souths

St.George Queensland Reds flanker Beau Robinson joined more than 50 Indigenous University students at Souths Rugby Club today, to take part in a community service day organised by company CareerTrackers.

CareerTrackers is a company that helps assist Indigenous students taking part in the Queensland Reds’ Learn, Earn, Legend! program who are attending University.
Currently Queensland Rugby has nine students working with CareerTrackers to find cadetships that allow them access to valuable on the job training and experience, while they complete their degree.
As part of the CareerTrackers program, participating students are required to take part in a community service day organised by the company.
In 2014, due to the outstanding success CareerTrackers have had with the Queensland Reds’ Learn, Earn, Legend! students, the company approached QRU for assistance with grassroots Rugby clubs.
Souths accepted the offer to have the students from Northern Territory and Queensland universities visit the club to assist with preparing their facilitates for the 2014 Queensland Premier Rugby season.
Queensland Rugby’s Learn, Earn, Legend! program partner, Leighton Contractors, also had staff in attendance and covered the cost of material, tools and equipment required for the day.
Reds and Souths player Beau Robinson said: “This is a great chance to help prepare and clean up the club ahead of the 2014 Queensland Premier Rugby Season.”
“Souths is a very community orientated club so we greatly appreciate the efforts of the Reds’ Learn, Earn, Legend! students here today.
“It’s great to see Queensland Rugby’s partners working together to assist the grassroots game.”
Queensland Rugby’s General Manager-Game Development, Rob Donaghue, is also pleased to see the united support shown by the organisations partners.
“This is a great initiative between the QRU, Leighton Contractors and CareerTrackers,” Donaghue said.
“It shows the ‘whole of community’ support the QRU aims to provide the Rugby community with the binding together of our partners, our Indigenous program participants and one of our community clubs to assist the grassroots game.
“I’d like to thank CareerTrackers not only for the support they are giving our Learn, Earn, Legend! university students, but also for providing this opportunity to assist one of our clubs.
“Leighton Contractors have been a fantastic partner of our Learn, Earn, Legend! program and their introduction of CareerTrackers to us and their support today further demonstrates the overarching support they provide to the Queensland Reds Indigenous Program and the Rugby community,” he added.
