2019 Miami State High School Girls Rugby 7’s Excellence Program

The Miami High Girls Rugby 7’s Excellence Program aims to provide students with an Olympic Games pathway. Through funded coaching and links with the Queensland Rugby Union and Rugby Australia, students are able to access learning experiences that enhance their opportunity for active participation and employment opportunities in rugby and other sports.

The program consists of both a Year 7, 8, 9 combined class and a Year 10, 11, 12 combined class. All students attend 3 x 70 minute lessons per week plus additional sessions outside of curriculum time. Students in the senior program will be expected to complete a senior subject leading to a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and contributing to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) as part of the 3 year course.

Queensland Premier Rugby / Grassroots Rugby volunteer roles

Opportunities for work experience have become available in the Queensland Rugby Union Media Department, assisting with the coverage and promotion of Queensland Premier Rugby and other grassroots competitions.

We are seeking a number of highly motivated, multi-skilled individuals who are available for one to two days a week, to work with the QRU Media Department, as well as assist our Queensland Premier Rugby clubs.

It is preferable for the applicant to have relevant experience in/be currently studying in the fields outlined below. An understanding of and passion for Rugby is desirable.

While roles will be focused on the delivery of our Premier Rugby strategy, successful applicants will also assist in the coverage of programs including women’s Rugby, schoolboy Rugby, Country Rugby and other areas of Queensland Rugby’s remit.

Game day assistance for St.George Queensland Reds home games will also form part of the role.

Roles we’re searching for include:

Written content creators

General daily tasks will include:

  • Assist with the production of media releases, web stories, match reports and feature articles relevant to different aspects of Queensland Rugby.
  • Assist to produce written content for individual Premier Rugby clubs upon request.
  • Assist with management of Queensland Rugby’s different social media accounts.
  • Assist to deliver the communication strategy around Queensland Premier Rugby.

Applicants for this position should have completed or currently be studying within the fields of journalism, communications or public relations.

Digital content creators

General daily tasks will include:

  • Assist with the production of photo/video content relevant to different aspects of Queensland Rugby.
  • Assist to photo/video content for individual Premier Rugby clubs upon request.
  • Assist to deliver the communication strategy around Queensland Premier Rugby.
  • The ability to handle basic graphic design work would also be desirable.

Applicants for this role should see themselves as aspiring photographers or videographers, tertiary study in multimedia is desirable but not a necessity, your portfolio or examples of prior work should be sent in with your application.

Premier Rugby broadcast commentators

We’re searching for talent to introduce to our Queensland Premier Rugby commentary team in 2018.

The Queensland Premier Rugby live stream will incorporate all four matches in 2018, with the Game of the Round hosted as a full production with live commentary.

Commentators should be well versed in Rugby and a knowledge of Premier Rugby and its history and position within Queensland Rugby Union is desirable.

Play-by-play commentator

The ‘play-by-play’ commentator’s role is to call the action as it happens, there will be other ‘colour’ commentators who will provide opinion and analysis, the main focus of the ‘play-by-play’ commentator is calling each play as it happens. A knowledge of Rugby ‘terminology’ and the laws of the game is desirable.

Colour commentator

The role of the colour commentator is to provide expert insight into the game, the players and the Premier Rugby competition. This role is ideal for former clubs players who still have an interest and want to stay involved, and have always been interested in trying their hand at commentary.

University of Sunshine Coach Barbarians searching for A Grade head coach ahead of 2018 season


The University of the Sunshine Coast Barbarians Rugby Union Club is seeking a suitable candidate for our A Grade (and Senior) head coach position for 2018. The head coach would work with a team of coaches, including an A Grade assistant coach and our second grade coaches to develop the senior squad in 2018. The head coach would be in control of the senior squad’s tactical play, development and our A grade team.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and has a strong focus on team culture, both on and off the field. Key characteristics that we are looking for are as follows:

· Level 2 coaching certificate.

· Creating a positive and all-inclusive team environment.

· Outstanding Rugby knowledge, and strong knowledge of modern game play and player development.

· Ability to manage players and volunteers.

· Ability to work with the other team’s coaching staff for the overall benefit of the team.

· Ability to organise, design and implement training programs consistent with the club’s values.

· Strong focus on player develop and ensuring they enjoy the game.

In addition to the above role, and for a suitable candidate, we have a paid Assistant Rugby Director Role available with a local Private Rugby School. Caboolture Snakes in search of coaches and managers for 2018


Caboolture Rugby Club, one of the up and coming clubs in Queensland, is seeking expressions of interest for all Coaching & Management positions. Positions are available across the club in the following age groups:

· U6, U7, U10 & U11

· We are also seeking female coaches or coaches with an interest in developing women’s rugby to provide support for our U12, 14, 16 & U18 girls Rugby Sevens program

Ipswich Rangers coaching & management positions available for 2018


Ipswich Rangers Rugby Union Club has a proud history of being a leader in the development and promotion of Rugby Union throughout the Ipswich and Western Corridor regions of South East Queensland. Ipswich Rangers are currently seeking applications from highly motivated coaches and managers who would like to be involved in our Senior Program for the 2018 season. The 2018 season will mark the clubs 50th year.

The Ipswich Rugby Union Club’s senior teams play as part of the Queensland Suburban Rugby Union (QSRU) competitions. QSRU competitions commence late March to early April, and run through until mid to late August.

Successful applications will be responsible for the management of the senior playing group and are expected to abide by the ARU injury protocols working closely with our sports medicine officers in managing the health and safety of the players.

St Edmunds College Ipswich 1st XV Rugby Head Coach for 2018

Applications are now open for a suitable candidate to work with our First XV for the AIC Rugby 2018 season. The Head Coach position would work alongside an Assistant Coach and in conjunction with this have the use of our college strength conditioning coach and also an appointed manager during the short 7 week AIC Rugby season. The players will commence the first phase of their preseason starting in Term 4 in late October 2018. The college is now seeking two individuals to run the coaching side of this team. We seek candidates who are passionate about their rugby and have the drive to meet the challenge of improving our First XV performance.
